Cure Chronic Lyme

1st February 2011 by Arrow Durfee Posted in Uncategorized

There are a number of alternative therapies that are proving effective for some people with Lyme. There may be others that I am not familiar with. These therapies are not stand alone treatments. They must be used in conjunction with each other or with antibiotic therapies. I will write the basic protocols for each but some doctors may have found more effective applications that should not be ignored. I will offer minimal dosages that some doctors may possibly increase in different cases.

I have a friend who has had chronic Lyme for over 20 years and he sees a Naturopathic Medical Doctor who is Lyme literate. He has been treated extensively with IV therapy yet the disease persisted even though his last IV treatments did him well for just over 2 years. In some cases of Lyme the system is so deteriorated by the spirochete that IV nutrients are given to rebuild the body, they do not necessarily affect the Lyme directly.

I am posting this to let you know about the treatment that he has used recently. His doctor, who spends much time attending seminars and treating Lyme patients has started to use a new protocol to dissolve the Lyme cyst that is the cause of chronic Lyme. Destroying the cyst has always been the main issue with treating chronic Lyme, as it is believed that the cysts are buried deep in tendons and other dense tissues as well as circulating in the blood stream. It literally hides from treatments. Most clearly, antibiotics do not penetrate the cyst to kill the spirochetes that they contain. Periodically the cysts break open and spill the lyme spirochetes into the blood stream. Because the antibiotics do not kill what is in the cyst long protracted and dangerous antibiotic therapy is required in many cases. This Lyme treatment protocol is based on the following work:

This Townsend article is of signficant interest for all who are trying to understand lyme. It includes the Bradford work with photographs and supporting links to the research done.

Meanwhile this PDF will present to you the core upon which the article is based. You can download this and I recommend that you do so as I have been concerned that it will disappear.

In the above article you will find links to Bradfords photos of the cysts and spirochetes and the spirochetes living in the cysts.

I have seen the before and after photos of the cysts after treatment with enzymes, samento and colloidal silver.

Heres a video via dark field microscope of the spirochetes as they form cysts… the round ones. The dark field microscope offers the ONLY conclusive diagnositic method for Lyme. Dark Field Microscopy is illegal in the USA for diagnostic purposes.

and here is a huge lyme biofilm grown in culture.
The theory is that enzymes can disssolve the biofilms as well as the cysts.

an interview of Robert Bradford MD.
Be aware, quackwatch is all over this guy. This microscope shows the truth that pharmaceutical companies and the FDA do not want you to know. It is illegal to make a diagnosis with a dark field microscope even though you are looking at the little buggers right in their eyes! These types of scopes are becoming increasingly popular with doctors who are sincerely interested in healing. I have known at least 10 doctors who use them. It is routinely used in some countries in Europe, Germany being the leader. We are in an economic and political war with these jerks who do all they can to withhold the truth so you will keep on keeping on loading their pockets for antibiotics.

My neighbor’s recent flair of Lyme was not nearly as severe as his previous episode so they decided to treat at home without IVs. They used Samento Tincture, Lyme Nosode, (a homeopathic preparation), and Colloidal Silver. The new part of the protocol that breaks open the cyst consists of high powered digestive enzymes. It is essential to destroy the cyst then hit it hard with your antibiotic of choice or what ever antimicrobial treatment you are using, but breaking the cyst is essential. As soon as the cyst ruptures the Lyme spirochetes pour out and they must be killed before they can form new cysts. If cysts remain in the body eventually they will break open and your infection starts to surge again if there is no antimicrobial agent present to kill the spirochetes.

This treatment has been effective for him this time around. I have not been able, nor his physician to get him to continue with this for long term. He gets sick of doing treatments. After about a week his herx reactions abated and in less than two weeks he stopped his treatment. I would think that doing the enzymes on a routine basis with an antimicrobial will eventually get all the cysts and prevent new ones from forming. I think that it could possibly take quite a while and it would be difficult to know exactly when to stop. The doctor that prescribed this treatment for him uses a dark field live blood analysis microscope to view the cysts and I have seen the photos of them. He is now one year and eight months post his last treatment protocol and he is doing well. He has not had a reoccurrence of Lyme disease symptoms.

When we had a discussion of the possibility of using MMS instead of Samento he called his physician to ask his doctor what he thought of the idea. His physician looked into MMS and found it to be the same chemical that he uses to treat Lyme via IV application, except in the IV application it remains sodium chlorite and is not activated by an acid solution. He had not yet heard of the oral applications of sodium chlorite and he decided after reading information on it that it probably would work just as well as the samento/colloidal silver in conjunction with the enzyme therapy. He told my friend to go ahead and try it. By the time this recommendation was made my friend had been on the samento/colloidal silver for about one week. He did the last few days of treatment with MMS and enzymes, although the herx phase of his treatment had already passed so it was difficult to assess what happened with the MMS.

Many many people in the Lyme community have used or are using MMS to control their Lyme disease and it is effective but I have not heard that anyone has reported a cure using MMS. Perhaps the missing link is the use of the enzyme protocol with the MMS.

Samento Herbal Tincture and
Colloidal Silver
These two products should be used together to get maximum benefit. Samento has proven to be very helpful within the Lyme patient community. Colloidal silver has an excellent reputation for killing any kind of microbe it crosses paths with. It should be combined with the enzyme therapy protocol that follows next.
Use these two products together. They are antimicrobial and should be taken two times a day.

Enzyme Therapy
Dedicated doctors to the treatment of Lyme have been diligently looking for answers. Over the past two years or so it has been found that taking sufficient enzymes between meals will dissolve the Lyme cyst. This is a major breakthrough for up until now there was no known way to attack the cyst that is believed to hide in deep tendon, joint and muscle tissue. Regular human type digestive enzymes have been found to do the job but they must be taken in a very specific protocol at high dosages. This is a nontoxic therapy. The enzymes may bring to you added benefits like clearing out your vascular system and alleviating inflammations of a wide variety.

Here is the product and the protocol:

The Enzyme product is called Marcozyme from Marco Pharma Int.
Roseburg, Oregon 97470

They are very high powered enzymes and one dose, 5 capsules/tablets equals:
Amalayse 27,500 usp
Protease 26,500 usp
Lipase 5,700 usp

These are very high dosages of enzymes and I think you may need physician assistance or someone licensed such as a nurse to help you purchase this product. But there is nothing to stop you from finding another similar product with a good reputation and taking enough to match the dosage.

Macrozyme can be purchased through the West Clinic’s on line store. Enter Marco Pharma under manufactures or call the clinic directly:

In a recent interview with Dr Henry West of the West Clinic in Pocatello, Idaho, whom this protocol came from, he told me that Wobenzyme enzymes will do the work also. Just be sure to take a sufficient dosage. Here is a site for that. But the ingredients for wobenzyme are somewhat different so that makes me unsure of dosage.
I have Dr Wongs CD on this product and he convinced me a long time ago. So I purchased some and found them quite effective for arthritis. They do break up compounds.

I have Dr Wongs CD on this product and he convinced me a long time ago about their efficacy. So I purchased some and found them quite effective for arthritis. They do break up compounds that cause pain in the joints.

Do not take these enzyme products if you have gastritis or ulcers. Heal that condition first. A strong enzyme protocol may worsen the condition.

These enzymes are for dissolving the lyme cyst and it is essential to come in exactly one hour after taking the enzymes with your antimicrobial or antibiotic to clean up all the spirochetes that have been released form the cyst..

1. The protocol is to take no food for 2 hours.
2. Take 5 enzyme pills (of Marcozyme) which delivers the above stated amount of enzymes.
3. Wait one hour – set your timer for one hour.
4. After one hour take samento tincture with colloidal silver or take MMS.
5. Do this twice a day.
6. Do not eat for one hour after taking the antimicrobial agents – set your timer again for one hour.. then you can eat. It should be at least 2 hours from ingesting the enzymes before you eat again.

You want these enzymes to be circulating in your blood not digesting your last meal.

The samento tincture with the colloidal silver or the MMS is for killing the bacteria that the cyst will release when it is broken.

Dosage for samento tincture: start with two drops in a little water. If your microbe load is large you may feel sick after taking it. This is a detox. Take 2 drops for your next dose. As you become able to tolerate dosage increase by one drop with each dose. If you can’t tolerate a dosage increase do not do it and repeat the last dosage that did not give you a problem. Work up to 15 drops two times a day one hour after the enzymes. If you are using samento this is also the time to take the colloidal silver.

ASAP and Mesosilver are two products that naturopaths tend to carry. Nutrasilver is another good choice and it is the product of choice by those MDs who treat Morgellon’s disease due to its powerful action.

To learn about the new protocol applications for MMS go to
Three doses a day are no longer recommended for MMS in the general MMS protocol. Smaller more frequent dosages are tolerated better and seem to work well for most disease conditions of microbial orgin.

When using MMS as the antimicrobial agent for treating Lyme use as described for the Samento, as tolerated, up to 15 drops for your two dosages a day preceded by enzymes. More MMS should be taken during the day as it is pretty clear that MMS is only active in the body for no more than two hours. I would want MMS in the body continually even if it was a smaller dose like 2 or 4 or 6 drops every two hours, but continue to work up in dosage specifically for those two doses that are preceded by enzymes.

No definitive protocol with MMS for Lyme has yet been developed. Many people are currently working on it who experiment at home independently. Some people who use MMS for Lyme herx pretty strongly with just a couple of drops. Others work up to 15 drops rather quickly. It is unclear if it is just the Lyme creating the herx or if there are other variable toxic issues the MMS is also clearing that any individual may have concurrently. To date I have not read any reports of MMS curing Lyme. I suspect this may be because the MMS cannot break down the cyst.

This information is not to displace consultations with naturopaths or medical doctors. It is to make you aware of some of the alternative treatment options.

If it were me I would look for a Lyme literate Naturopathic Medical Doctor or NMD (ND), licensed and graduated from a post grad four year naturopathic school, that is open minded and that is capable of doing IV work should that be necessary. These licensed naturopathic doctors can write medical prescriptions for drugs in most ND licensing states, if a true need should arise and that would include for pain medication. If Lyme is very advanced and you are very sick it is the way to go.

Dr Henry West and Dr Jason West of the West Clinic in Pocatello, Idaho are using enzymes and anti-microbial agents to treat Lyme disease. Recently Dr Henry West told me that the product called Wobenzyme will break down the cyst to. When I have more information I will post it, as it seems wobenzyme makes several enzyme products.

Is this safe during pregnancy? I am interested in knowing. Please email me if you don’t care.

  2. Arrow Durfee Says:

Lyme can be transfered to the baby in utero. As far as I know the antimicrobials used in this protocol have never been tested during pregnancy. I cannot confirm that it is safe. Lyme is not safe and that is a sure thing

This message is for Arrow Durfee,

    Mr. Durfee,

I’ve read from your posts that MMS costs about $12.00 per year. I am totally confused because when I look online to purchase MMS the costs are higher. I have read how to make it, but how do I get my hands on this stuff for the prices that you say?
I am dealing with Morgellon’s and Graves Disease (hyperthyroid), bladder cystits and I was dumb enough to let them remove my gallbladder in 96′. I am now 51 yrs. old just into menopause w/hot flashes and hormonal imbalance. I’ve had multiple minimally invasive cervical spine surgeries and I need one more proceedure. I am hoping to try to regain my health. I know my adrenals and my immune system are weak. Could you please guide me to where I can buy this MMS at the kind of prices you say.
    Thank you for your help.

  4. Arrowwind Says:

Generally the lowest prices are found on ebay. search ebay with MMS water purification. Generally $20 a bottle is tops for price.

I have been saddened this week to learn of the death of Dr Henry West Jr. who was the doctor who spent considerable hours with me teaching me about the work he did in his practice this past fall for a book that I am working on. He has provided for many compassionate and open hearted service. He is also the doctor who taught me about the above Lyme disease protocol. His son Jason will continue with the West Clinic providing the same excellent quality of care.

We have lost a great man dedicated to all aspects of natural healing and healthcare innovation.

    Here is his life’s story.

  6. Rowan Says:

Here’s my question- Why, if this cyst theory is true, do the spirochetes then form a cyst in the blood? The theory is that they form cysts in places that can’t be reached by the blood or antibacterial treatments. So why would they form cysts in the blood? I spoke to an Infectious disease Dr and Lyme expert that disagrees with the cyst theory and she thinks that bacteria will behave this way while in a petri dish and under a microscope and subjected to tests. The have no reason to be forming cysts with a plain blood test. In fact there is a new blood culture that tests for spirochetes in the actual blood and it has taken great efforts to get the bacteria under a microscope in its living state from patient to lab. I’m no Dr and I don’t know exactly what the details are here but I haven’t heard a whole lot about the cyst theory from this lab. Blood testing for spirochetes is not generally accurate especially after treating with antibacterials. How do we know that these bacteria don’t bunch up when they die? Maybe they get together because they are fending off the attack because the attack is working? I agree that there is a biofilm that these bacteria have as a defense but I don’t believe that enough of the bacteria will survive if its treated properly for it to repopulate. I was infected years ago and I never had flare up like I do now. My immune system did a great job for a long time before this became evident to me. Thats just intuition as is most of the talk I hear about Lyme disease. Even from Doctors. We’re still figuring this one out. I recommend not taking this cyst theory too seriously because its is just a theory. I could tell you some other theories I’ve heard that are just ludicrous. One thing I can say for certain for me though. Anyone dealing with Lyme should take every effort to not eat sugar and any foods that turn quickly to a sugar base form, like white rice and potatoes etc. This is just my suggestion from experience. I was feeling completely recovered at one point and I started eating sugary foods again daily. Two months later I had full blown symptoms of Lyme return and worse. Diet is crucial, mental and emotional change is crucial, Taking a product called “Biofilm Defense” has proven to be a great weapon for me. This breaks down the so called biofilm and does allow Antibiotics and antibacterials to do their work. But watch for foods that help support the formation of this biofilm theory. I stopped all dairy for the mucus seems to be a supporting factor. Sugar is the number one evil for me. Anyway I hope you all find your way to healing and health quickly and with ease. I know it takes a courageous soul to get to the other side. I know people that did. I will too and so can you.

    To Rowan,

Did you even bother to watch the videos and read the Townsend article?

In my mind it is not a theory. It is evidence of the fact that spirochets form cysts in the blood. In my mind it is only theory that they form cysts in tissues where blood cannot get to. Antibiotic use drives the spirochetes into forming cysts, it appears.

I have seen first hand the photos taken via dark field live blood analysis of the spirochetes and of the spirochetes forming cysts in before and after cured cases using the enzyme protocol with Colloidal Silver and Samento.

Until conventional medical doctors learn the dark field live blood analyis method they will remain in the dark regarding Lyme and people will continue to suffer and die, and you may be one of them.

I suggest that you get on an airplane and to to the West Clinic in Poctatllo, Idaho.

Hi there! Firstly, I want to thank you for posting this information. I hope that many people suffering from Lyme benefit from it. I am strongly considering trying it myself. My Lyme is not nearly as severe or advanced as some cases, but it has definitely affected my quality of life significantly, and I would like to knock it out if at all possible before it gets really out of control. I do have a few questions for you about the protocol… firstly, regarding the dosage of the colloidal silver, how much would you recommend? Also, any further update on which brand of silver would be the most effective out of the ones you mentioned? Also, I noticed that in other postings, you have also mentioned a Lyme nosode as part of the protocol that your neighbor used. Would you suggest this for others as well?? Finally, in your understanding, how long does the average person need to be on this protocol to start seeing some significant results? I take care of an elderly/disabled parent and I can’t afford to not be well myself, so I really want to regain my health and rid myself of this stubborn infection before it gets worse. Any further advice and/or information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Also, what is the best way for me to contact you privately?? Thanks!

I am presently on a macrobiotic diet & after going to the kushi inst in becket for 2 weeks on a way to health course I returned to study the levels for 3 mtns1 i must say what a difference it has made-the last couple weeks before i returned i had never felt better! however being back in london/ renting my home out for an income/too wide a diet has significantly made a difference but i`m still lots improved…..i am not cured but if i do the diet 100% its amazing! however I would still like to get rid of this bacteria from my body. I`m coming back to usa , with a view to eventually living in NY…if all goes to plan. Early days as yet…Dr wests clinic in Pocatatilo in Idaho looks really a place to seek real help with Lyme. any idea what kind of costs?? If his son is taking up where he left that would be good enough for me! i love this website….Arrow what is your book about that you are writing? is Lyme or other things?

  11. Arrow Durfee Says:

Improved diet can make a difference in Lyme and many lyme vicitims have reported so but an actual cure from diet improvements seems to be rare. An improved diet will assist the body to fight the disease. With lyme many things can go wrong due to the presence of the spirochete and I suspect that it is in these areas that the improved diet helps. When things get really bad, thats when the naturopath needs to support the body with a whole host of adjunctive therapies, generally, nutrients provided by IV.

I just visited again and they mention macrozyme. That is the enzyme product that they used. Changes occured at the company that makes macrozyme and it can no longer be purchased by individuals and has to be purchased through a practitioners office.. why they shoot themselves in the foot this way I dont understand. You might want to call the west clinic and see if they will sell you some as well as the colloidal silver that they have or at least get the get brand name of the silver product. The dosage on the bottle will tell you how much to take. Be sure to take it one hour after the use of the enzymes. Colloidal silver is not harmful. Some people with serious disease take double and triple the recommended dosages and even more.

Soverign Silver is a good product and as well as the silver sold at

The clinic use to sell products on their website but it appears that they no longer do but I thought it was for their patients only anyway. Give them a call and see what they say. It can’t hurt.If you are very ill with lyme I recommend that you go there for other things may need to be done to help get you well.

My book, which never seems to get completed is about infection in general.

  12. Peter Says:

Thanks for the info! I will give the West Clinic a call next week. So, do you think that Sovereign Silver is a better product than the NutraSilver, etc., that you previously recommended? It was my understanding that the higher the PPM is, the more effective it is. Do you agree with that?

Also, I noticed that in other postings, you mentioned a Lyme nosode as part of the protocol that your neighbor used in addition to the Enzymes, Samento, and Silver. Would you suggest this for other people treating Lyme with this protocol as well??

As far as the Marcozyme tablets go, I have found some websites online that do still seem to sell it. I haven’t actually tried to go through with purchasing it yet, but it seems as though it is being sold online in a few different places, so hope that helps others who may be wanting to purchase it.

My Lyme is not nearly as severe or advanced as some cases, but it has definitely affected my quality of life significantly, and I would like to knock it out if at all possible before it gets really out of control. I eat relatively well, and don’t drink, smoke, do drugs, etc. Do you think I would benefit significantly from this protocol? Do you think it can possibly eliminate all the Lyme bacteria from my body? I’ve had the illness for just over a year and a half. Thanks again.

  13. Arrow Durfee Says:

Ask about the homeopathic nosode at the clinic too. I dont see any reason why anyone with lyme should not take it. It will help the body defend against lyme.

I would be interested is having those links that sell marcozyme. Ive never found any but I haven’t looked recently

  14. Peter Says:

Okay, will do. Sure, I’d be happy to share those links with you. Is there an e-mail address I can e-mail you at or can you e-mail me?

Do you still advocate the NutraSilver product? I was also considering the Invive silver, but it’s so expensive. I am trying to figure out which silver would be most beneficial to use with this protocol, because I know that not all silver is created equal, and I want to get maximum benefits.
